Question: Does the roof open for easy access and cleaning?
Answer: It is not made on a hinge however the roof snaps together with just a few composite parts. It is easy to slide the roof sections out to get to the inside then put them back. No tools are required to do this and it only takes a couple of minutes.

Question: How wide is the opening on the XL?
Answer: The dimensions are 15 3/4" wide by 19 5/8" tall for the opening of the XL. Thank you
